Hamilton, Congleton in the hunt

Richmond’s Kyle Congleton and Blake Hamilton are in the hunt following the opening day of the 2009 Kentucky Junior Amateur Golf Tournament.
Congleton shot a 76 on Wednesday and is tied for ninth in the boys 15-16 year-old division after the first round, while Hamilton is one shot back (77) and is tied for 14th.
The tournament is being played at the Lindsey Golf Course at Fort Knox.
Congleton shot a 40 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine. Hamilton opened with a 39, then shot a 38 on the back nine.
Hager Collins of Lexington leads the tournament after shooting a 71 on Wednesday.
In the boys 17-18 year-old division, Richmond’s Adam Herald shot an 81 in the first round and is tied for 41st place. Herald fired a 35 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine.
In the 2009 Girls Kentucky Junior Amateur Golf Tournament, Rich-mond’s Breyanna Bannister is in 23rd place after Wednesday’s opening round.
Bannister shot a 106, including a 50 on the back nine. The girls tournament is being played at the Bardstown Country Club.
