Massie, Herald finish second in Louisville

Jesse Massie and Adam Herald both turned in solid performances at the Musselman-Dunne Tour event Monday at Midland Trial Golf Course in Louisville.
Massie, a former Eastern Kentucky University golfer, finished second in the college men’s division, just one shot behind the winner — Sam Zirnheld of Louisville. Massie shot a 33 on the front nine and a 34 on the back to finish at 67 (-5).
Herald, a Richmond native, posted another impressive result on the summer tour. He shot 35 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine to finish at 71 (-1), just three shots behind the winner in the championship boys division.

Stephens Oil Classic
Former EKU golfer Brandon Berry finished second in the amateur division of the KPGA 2009 Stephens Oil Classic Monday at Cherry Blossom Golf and Country Club.
Berry shot a 68, but lost to Andy Roberts of Owensboro in a one-hole playoff.
In the professional division, EKU golf coach Pat Stephens finished tied for fourth with a 72, four shots behind the winner — Kelly Maxwell of Louisville.
In the senior amateur division, Mark Kelly of Berea finished fourth after shooting a 75 and John Hamilton of Richmond shot an 81 and tied for seventh.

Pepsi Junior Tour
Tristyn Nowlin finished fourth in the girls 12-and-under division of the tournament Monday at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.
Nowlin shot a 49 and finished just two shots out of third place. In other results, Richmond’s Samuel Kincer finished 17th in the boys six-hole division. He shot a 63.
