Herald takes title

Register Staff Report

Editor’s note:

In a article that appeared in the Thursday edition of the Richmond Register, Adam Herald’s first-place finish in the boys championship division of the Musselman-Dunne event at Gibson Bay was unintentionally omitted. The Register apologizes for the error — which was completely unintentional.

Richmond’s Adam Herald turned in an outstanding performance Wednesday at the Musselman-Dunne Tour event at Gibson Bay in Richmond.

Herald shot a 34 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine, finishing with a very impressive 69 (-3). He easily beat out Patrick Davidson (+2) for the title in the boys championship division.

David Shearn of Louisville and Joseph Haydon of Springfield each finished third with score of 75 (+3).

Former Eastern Kentucky University golfer Jesse Massie won the college men division of the event, finishing with an even-par 72.

Brian Fister, an freshman at EKU, finished tied for second with a +3, 75.

Former Madison Southern High School standout Tiffany Willis took first place in the college women’s division Wednesday at Gibson Bay in Richmond.

The Union College junior shot a 45 on the front nine, a 42 on the back nine and finished at +15. She edged out two other competitors for the title.

In other results from the Musselman-Dunne Tour event at Gibson Bay on Wednesday, Richmond’s Zack Lewis shot a 78 (+6) and finished tied for fifth in the boys 14-15 year-old division. John Cornelison finished 15th in the same division, shooting a +10.

Richmond’s Brad Newman finished 10th in the boys 16-18 year-old division after shooting a +16 (88) and Kyle Congleton tied for 13th in the championship boys division with a 81 (+9).
