Police arrest man in Quality Quarters attempted robbery

RICHMOND — A man was arrested Monday and charged with attempted robbery after Richmond police found him behind Subway on Leighway Drive.

Triston R. Riley, 25, of Barnes Mill Road, is being charged with first-degree attempted robbery after police say he brandished a knife to a clerk and demanded money.

Richmond police were dispatched Monday to Quality Quarters on N. Killarney Lane at approximately 1:15 p.m., according to Richmond Police Chief Larry Brock.

“When the clerk resisted the robber’s order, the suspect fled from the business,” Brock said. “A description of the suspect was broadcast (to law enforcement officers) and a short time later, an officer located a man fitting Riley's description behind Subway.”

He later was positively identified as Riley.

He was charged after a police station interview, Brock said.

Riley is being held at the Madison County Detention Center.
