Woman charged after domestic dispute at Dollar General

RICHMOND — Mattie J. Sims, 41, of Edwards Avenue, was charged with fourth-degree assault after Richmond police officers responded to a domestic dispute Wednesday at the Dollar General on Lexington Road.

According to Police Chief Larry Brock, when officers arrived they learned Sims had parked in front of her estranged husband’s vehicle, blocking it in the lot. She then confronted him at his vehicle and struck him in the face, Brock said.

When the husband tried to drive away, Sims grabbed onto the vehicle but lost her grip and fell to the ground.

She suffered scratches and bruises to her leg, and was treated and released at Baptist Health-Richmond.

Brock said it unclear whether her husband’s vehicle ran over Sims’ leg or if the injuries resulted from her fall.
