MADISON COUNTY — Several area police agencies worked together Wednesday afternoon to find a shooting suspect after he fled from Richmond into Estill County.

Stewart Ballew, 21, of Richmond, is accused of firing at a vehicle near the Redi-Mart gas station at 2032 Irvine Road, according to Kentucky State Police spokesperson Trooper Paul Blanton.

Around 3 p.m., Richmond police were notified that shots had been fired after two parties got into a dispute at the gas station, RPD Chief Larry Brock said.

Ballew allegedly fired at a vehicle and then fled toward Estill County. Brock said no one was seriously injured although there was some flying glass.

RPD, KSP and police agencies from Estill County scoured Hwy. 52 and adjoining roads for the next hour, looking for a light-blue Chrysler 300.

Ballew was found and arrested near the White House Clinic in Irvine, according to the KSP. State troopers brought Ballew back to the Madison County Detention Center but as of 5 p.m. he had not been booked into the facility.
