No lockdown advisories at Madison County Schools

RICHMOND — No Madison County schools are on lockdown, according to Erin Stewart the county district’s spokesperson.

The Central Office has received numerous calls about schools being on lockdown because of a suspect being chased by police between Goggins Lane and Interstate 75 and reports of a gas leak in the Waco area, she said.

However, the district has not received any sort of precautionary advice from officials or a lockdown advisory, Stewart said. “We’re business as usual at Madison County Schools.”

Several police agencies are looking for a man who ran from a Richmond police officer after he was stopped Friday while walking on the Exit 87 on-ramp.

Around 11 a.m., the officer saw the man and stopped to tell him he couldn’t walk on the interstate, according to Chief Larry Brock.

As the officer was checking his ID, the man ran away toward Richmond Centre, and the officer pursued him on foot. Other officers joined the chase, but shortly before 2 p.m. the suspected had not been apprehended.
