POLICE TEAM UP WITH MCDONALD’S FOR CHILD SAFETY SEAT AWARENESS

RICHMOND — The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is teaming up with TDS Restaurants/McDonald’s of Richmond to raise awareness on the proper installation of child safety seats.

The event will take place from 4 at 8 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald’s 1001 Brandy Lane restaurant, near Exit 90 on Interstate 75.

Several officers and safety seat technicians will be on hand to assist the parent or guardian in ensuring that their child’s safety seat is installed properly.

Kentucky state law requires that any child less than 40 inches tall must be in a child or infant safety seat. The law also requires that any child under age 7 and between 40 and 50 inches tall be in a booster seat.

Statistics show that 7 out of 10 child safety seats are improperly installed, according to a news release from the organizers.

April Marks, Marketing Director for TDS Restaurants/ McDonald’s said McDonald’s is “very passionate about making sure children are properly secured in their safety seats.

As an incintive for parents to participate in the inspections, McDonald’s will be offering Happy Meals for $1.99 during the hours that the safety seat event is taking place” Marks said.
