Register Staff Report
An out-of-state visitor was injured Saturday morning when he and a horse he was riding on Dreyfus Road were hit by a vehicle.
The rider, whose name was not released, was transported to St. Joseph Berea hospital with what emergency personnel described as non-lethal injuries, said Carlos Coyle, Madison County EMS assistant director.
The accident occurred near the Central Kentucky Wildlife Management Area.
The horse had run away from the scene, presumably to a nearby stable, when the ambulance crew arrived, Coyle said.
Dr. Jim Martin, one of two Madison County veterinarians who treat large animals, said he was alerted but not called to treat the horse.
The accident was investigated by the Madison County Sheriff's Department.
