KSP: Berea man had ‘ongoing relationship’ with minor

BEREA — A 42-year-old Berea man was arrested Sunday on several charges related to an “ongoing sexual relationship” he had with a minor earlier this year, according to the KSP.

Darell W. Hurt, Cherry Road, was charged with use of a minor (under 18) in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a minor (under 18) and possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.

Hurt pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday in Madison District Court. He is scheduled for a pretrial hearing at 9 a.m. Sept. 4.

The arrest citation listed Hurt as Berea city employee. A phone call about his employment status was directed to City Manager Randy Stone. A message was left for Stone, but he did not return the call prior to publication deadline.

According to a Facebook page under the name of Berea resident Darrell Hurt, he is a Geographical Information System coordinator with Berea Municipal Utilities.

Hurt’s affidavit requesting a public defender stated he’d worked for the city for two and a half years.

Hurt is accused of having been involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a minor from April to June of this year, according to the KSP report.

Hurt also was in possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor when he was arrested Sunday, the report stated.

Hurt’s bail is currently set at $50,000 cash, and he remained in the Madison County Detention Center as of Thursday afternoon.
