BEREA — The Madison County Public Library’s 25th anniversary celebration continues today (Sunday) at the Richmond branch, 507 West Main St., with the 25th Anniversary Gala Open House from 2 to 4 p.m.

Two musical groups that regularly practice at the library will be performing, the Aires Flute Ensemble and the Tuesday Dulcimers.

The building and a few areas within the library will be dedicated to former library supporters and employees. Snacks will be provided.

The anniversary kicked off Friday with ice cream socials at both the Berea and Richmond branch.

On Saturday, the library hosted kid-friendly “birthday parties” with mini cupcakes, balloon animals, temporary tattoos and pony rides courtesy of “Bunny” and “Fancy” of Honey Hill Farm in Pendleton County.

“Mama” the miniature pony enjoyed pets and hugs while providing free lawn-trimming services to the library.

About 400 people showed up to celebrate Saturday at the two locations, Maslin estimated. Another 160 came out for the ice cream socials.
