BEREA — The Madison Fiscal Court approved rezoning of 2855 Robbinsville Loop from agricultural to residential at Tuesday morning’s meeting.

At a previous meeting, Judge/Executive Kent Clark said the property owner requested the change to conform with the county’s comprehensive plan.

In other business:

• County Fire Chief Jim Cox announced that a burn ban is in place through Dec. 15. The ban prohibits burning anything within 150 feet of a wooded area between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

• Madison County EMA/CSEPP Director Carl Richards said the 2014 CSEPP calendar will be distributed around the week of Thanksgiving.

• Richards said he has received positive feedback on the emergency zone signs recently posted to inform residents about the zones where they live and work so they can respond appropriately in the event of a chemical leak at the Blue Grass Army Depot. CSEPP is evaluating a second phase that would place zone signs in subdivisions of 75 residences or more.

• County Clerk Kenny Barger said his Berea branch office will remain open in the basement of Berea City Hall while the current location undergoes renovations.
