MADISON COUNTY —
History will come alive again Saturday at Madison County's Battlefield Park as it hosts a Civil War Living History Day.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Battlefield Park, 1546 Battlefield Memorial Highway (US 421) south of Richmond.
Guests will be able to talk and interact with individuals, both military and civilian, and learn about life in central Kentucky during the 1860s.
The event is co-sponsored by the Battle of Richmond Association and the Madison County Division of Historic Properties.
The Battle of Richmond was part of the 1862 Confederate advance into Kentucky and is the second largest Civil War battle fought in the Bluegrass state. The battle was an overwhelmingly Confederate victory.
The Battle of Richmond Visitor Center will also be open during the event. The center is about a mile north of Richmond Battlefield Park at 101 Battlefield Memorial Highway (the US 25/421 junction).
