Post 7 issues almost 1,500 citations in June

RICHMOND — During the month of June, troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 7 in Richmond issued 1,486 citations and made 210 criminal arrests.

Detectives and troopers also investigated 1,128 complaints, opened 82 criminal cases, and made 210 criminal arrests.

Troopers arrested 29 people on charges of driving under the influence and investigated 57 traffic collisions.

Of the 1,486 citations issued, 127 were for speeding, 149 for not wearing seatbelt, and 13 for no child restraint, according to a KSP news release.

Troopers inspected 1,403 vehicles in June and helped 60 stranded motorists.

The Richmond post provides service in Madison, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Garrard, Jackson, Jessamine, Lee, Lincoln, Mercer and Owsley counties.

Troopers from Post 7 will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations in all the counties it serves. They will give special attention to seatbelt adherence, sobriety, insurance, and registration violations, according to Trooper Robert Purdy, Post 7 spokesperson.
