Register staff report
The Blue Grass Army Depot is extending public hours of operation during the summer months.
Starting this week, the installation will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. It will return to normal hours of public operation of 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. after Labor Day.
The extended time is to provide better support to the depot’s employees and the public who use the services provided by the depot’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation operation, according to a news release from acting public affairs officer Mark Henry.
The depot’s MWR provides a variety of recreational, sports, health club, entertainment and facility rental services that see an increased demand during the longer daylight hours of summer, Henry said. This includes activities like golf, RV and watercraft rental, swimming, rental of BGAD’s Lake Buck Lodge for special events, and much more.
