Blue Grass Army Depot sponsors 5K

Saturday event has no entry fee

RICHMOND — The Blue Grass Army Depot is hosting a 5K run/walk Saturday in support of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The no-entry-fee event will begin and end at the depot’s new sports complex ball fields, according to a news release from the installation. Preregistration is available online at or starting at 9 a.m. the day of the event.

The run/walk is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

All participants must sign a waiver, and minors 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Strollers are welcome, but pets are not permitted.

Awards will be presented for the top three women, men and children 12 and under.

The event is being coordinated by the Army and the depot’s Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention program staff in support of the overall DoD initiative to aggressively address sexual assaults by focussing on prevention through education and training, according to the release.
