MADISON COUNTY — The Taste of Richmond event is coming back for its second year Friday night at Richmond Centre.

Local bakeries, caterers, farmers markets and restaurants will be setting up booths and offering food samples from 6 to 9 p.m. at the shopping center’s fountain area.

“It’s only to promote local food,” said Karmen Marcum, Richmond Chamber of Commerce director of events.

Tickets for each of the samples will be on sale at the event, $1 per ticket or $10 for 12.

The Taste of Richmond will happen rain or shine, Marcum said.

Also during the event, live music will be provided by the Bent Penny Band. The concert is part of the Pieratt’s Summer Music Series, which takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday nights at Richmond Centre through Sept. 6.

A complete schedule of concerts can be found at www.shoprichmondcentre.com/events-and-news.

Marcum said Taste of Richmond is a family-friendly event and people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the concert.

The Richmond Chamber of Commerce is organizing  the event with National College as the presenting sponsor. The college was the sponsor last year as well.

Jerry Goble State Farm Insurance is the water sponsor, and Meijer will be providing soft drinks.

Participating food vendors will be Bella’s Cupcakes, Bluegrass Kettle Masters, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick-fil-A, East of Chicago Pizza, National College, O’Charley’s restaurant, Poppy’s Donuts, Positively Java, Purdy’s Coffee Co., Qdoba Mexican Grill, University Shell Food Mart, Urge Cupcakery, Apollo Pizza, McAllister’s Deli, Souther Kountry Produce, Isbell/Smith Farm Fresh Produce and 1200 at MCC.
