RICHMOND — Richmond police were searching Monday night for Tony Ray Donta Gay, 21, of Race Street, in connection with a 4:12 p.m. shooting at the corner of Race and Spring streets, according to RPD Maj. Bob Mott.

Police had not released the name of the male shooting victim who they said was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center after suffering an abdominal wound. He is expected to survive, RPD Chief Larry Brock said.

Gay should be considered armed and dangerous, Mott said.

The suspect fled the scene in a black 2001 Ford Taurus, Kentucky license plate 408-LBD, which was captured on surveillance video.

Police had not established a motive for the shooting when Gay's name was released.

Anyone who knows where Gay can be found is asked to contact Richmond police immediately by calling 624-4776, Mott said.
