Property owners asked to look for signs of missing teen

Freshly turned earth, unusual smells, ditch lines, remote areas should be noted

MADISON COUNTY — In a new plea for help in the search for a missing Madison County teen, the Kentucky State Police on Tuesday asked property owners to pay particular attention to freshly turned earth, unusual smells, ditch lines and remote areas.

Brookelyn Farthing, 18, of the Red Lick/Big Hill area, was reported missing June 22. She was last seen at a home in southeastern Madison County wearing a gray Madison County FFA T-shirt and denim shorts.

A search of the area Friday and Saturday near where she was last seen turned up no clues.

KSP investigators are be focusing the search on Madison, Jackson, Rockcastle and Estill counties, where the agency is asking property owners to look for any sign of the missing young woman.

Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is encouraged to contact call the state police at (859) 623-2404 or toll free at (800) 222-5555 or “text a tip” at 67283.
