State lawmakers to visit Army depot Thursday

RICHMOND — FRANKFORT— A committee of state lawmakers will visit the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond on Thursday for an Army briefing and bus tour of facility.

The meeting of the Interim Joint Committee on Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection will begin at the Armed Forces Reserve Building at 1:30 p.m. with a briefing on Col. Brian Rogers, depot commander. The bus tour will follow.

The briefing is open to the public.

The tour will include a viewing of the memorial to fallen service members from Kentucky who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn (the Iraq and Afghanistan war), and a stop at one of the conventional weapons igloos.
