Register Staff Report
The third annual Madison Airport open house and barbeque is scheduled 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The event is hosted by the airport board and Eastern Kentucky University, the airport’s fixed-base operator.
In addition to an airplane display and barbeque lunch served from noon to 2 p.m., young people between from age 8 to 17 will have the opportunity to view the county from above thanks to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles program. EAA members will be taking the youngsters aloft between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
After the flights, each young passenger will receive an EAA Young Eagle certificate, logbook and flight manual. Their names also will be entered into the national Young Eagle Logbook at the EAA Air Venture Museum in Oshkosh, Wis., and accessible on the internet at www.youngeagles.org. Young Eagles also can log into that site to enroll in a free course of online flight training.
