KY 52 link to I-75 to be discussed May 13

RICHMOND — While a proposed link from Nicholasville to Exit 95 on Interstate 75 north of Richmond has garnered attention and organized opposition, the state also is developing plans to link I-75 to another community to the west.

On May 13, the state Transportation Cabinet will conduct an informational meeting on its plans to extend an improved section of KY 52 to I-75 Exit 83 at Duncannon Lane between Richmond and Berea. A section of the road that links Richmond to Lancaster and Danville already has been improved in Garrard County.

The May 13 meeting at Kirksville Elementary School, 2399 Lancaster Road, will focus on the stretch of KY 52 from Wallace Mill Road to I-75, according to a transportation cabinet announcement. The meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m.

Handout sheets and displays will be available at the meeting, at which state employees and consultants will answer questions. While the meeting is not a public hearing, written comments will be accepted at the meeting and for 15 days afterward, the announcement stated.

Written comments will become part of the project’s official record and will be available for review by those who file open-records requests.

Those who need assistance, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, to attend the meeting should contact Joshua Samples by May 6 by phone at 859-246-2355 or by writing to him at: Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, PO Box 11127, Lexington, KY 40512-1127.
