Richmond’s Human Rights Commission will begin strategic planning in December, the panel announced during its monthly meeting Wednesday night.
The HRC began reforming after the city commission voted in July to decrease its number of seats from 9 to 7 because the panel was having trouble obtaining a quorum for meetings. Since then, two new members, Marsha Dunn and Debbie Secchio, have been appointed.
“We haven’t yet had a meeting where we were all present,” Wardell Johnson, commission chair, said of the new group.
However, after one or two more monthly meetings, he expects the commission will be ready to publicly address reports of human rights violations.
