Man on home incarceration gets second pot-trafficking charge

RICHMOND — A man who was arrested last summer after sheriff’s deputies reported finding more than 5 pounds of pot in his home and truck is back in jail on a new charge of marijuana trafficking.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office conducted a home-incarceration inspection Wednesday at 61-year-old Billy P. Graham’s home on Sand Ridge Road in the Doylesville community, according to an MSO news release.

Graham was on an ankle monitor while he faces a charge of trafficking marijuana (over 5 pounds) that he received in July.

During the inspection this week, more than a pound of processed marijuana was found, the MSO reported.

Graham and 23-year-old Lucy R. Cole-Smith, also of Sand Ridge Road in Waco, were charged with trafficking in marijuana (over 8 ounces).

Graham also was charged with contempt of court and violating home incarceration conditions.

They were both taken to the Madison County Detention Center. Graham has a $1,500 bond on one of his trafficking marijuana charges, and no bond had been set yet on his second trafficking charge and contempt of court, according to a jail official.

He was still incarcerated Friday morning.

Cole-Smith was released from jail Thursday on 10 percent of a $5,000 bond.

Graham was arrested July 18 when a truck in which he was a passenger was stopped for a traffic violation at Cain Springs and Doylesville roads.

A sheriff’s office K-9 dog indicated there were drugs in the vehicle, and after searching the truck, deputies reported finding 4 pounds of marijuana.

Deputies then went to Graham’s Sand Ridge Road home and discovered 1.5 pounds of pot, $10,000 in cash and a loaded handgun, according to an MSO release.

The driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Melonie L. Cole also was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana (over 5 pounds).
