South Collins Street man faces 18 charges of forging checks
An RPD investigation into 18 stolen and forged checks resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old South Collins Street man.
Logan T. Browning was charged Wednesday with 18 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
A complainant told police Nov. 19 that several of her personal checks had been stolen from her home some time during the past six month, according to the police report.
Police were able to determine that 18 of the stolen checks had been forged and passed a local banks from Nov. 7 to Nov. 20.
The total amount of the forged checks were $1,296.50.
Browning was identified as a suspect, and a warrant was issued Feb. 22 for his arrest. He was taken into custody while at Madison District Court where he was appearing on unrelated charges.
Man walks away with mower
A representative of Lowe’s reported Saturday that an orange and gray Husqvarna self-propelled gas push lawn mower, worth $329, had been stolen from the front of the store that morning.
A man was seen pushing the mower to a truck in the parking lot of Soft Shoe.
The truck was described as a blue or purple 1999-2002 Ford Ranger pickup with a Kentucky license plate.
