Man accused of repeatedly kicking RPD officer in the head

RICHMOND — A Fairview Drive man faces a felony assault charge after police say he repeatedly kicked on officer in the face Wednesday while he was being arrested for allegedly being intoxicated in public.

Junuis Randle Jr., 21, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and alcohol intoxication.

Richmond officers responded to call Wednesday about an intoxicated person on Amberly Way, according to an RPD news release.

When the officers arrive, they found Randle yelling and causing a disturbance, the release stated.

The man kicked the arresting officer in the face several times before he was “subdued in the back of a police car,” according to the release.

The officer was treated at Baptist Health in Richmond for injuries he received during the arrest.

Randle’s photo was not available with his booking information on the Madison County Detention Center’s Jailtracker website.
