Berea’s Biggest Loser competition kicks off Saturday

BEREA — The eight-week Berea’s Biggest Loser competition will begin Saturday at noon at the Berea City Park with the Biggest Loser Walk in the Park.

The competition will end Dec. 22 and the person with the highest percentage of weight loss will win the grand prize of 50 percent of the entrance fees. First place prizes of 10 percent of the entrance fees will be awarded to one male and one female who ends the challenge with the highest percentage of weight loss.

Weekly weigh ins will be each Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Fitness, Friends and Fun in Berea.

The Biggest Loser entrance fee is $25. Details are available on www.fitnessfriendsandfun.com or by calling Veronica Rosignoli at (606) 264-0012.

    Kentucky House and Senate lawmakers agreed Tuesday to a $4.1 billion road-spending plan on the legislature’s final day, avoiding an expensive special session.
    The plan includes $5.2 billion worth of projects throughout the state. But as much as 25 percent of that money will not be spent. Lawmakers said they would like to include a cushion in case some projects are delayed because of environmental concerns or problems acquiring land.
