MADISON COUNTY — A Classic & Muscle Car & Motorcycle Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Army Reserve Center on US 421 near the Blue Grass Army Depot entrance.
The event is sponsored by local Chapter 1066 of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA).
Registration is $15 per car or motorcycle and participants must register between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Ten trophies will be awarded to the winner in each class and one trophy to a veteran. The motorcycle categories will have five trophies awarded and one to a veteran.
The first 50 people to register will receive a dash plate with the VVA logo commemorating this first event sponsored by the local chapter.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and bottled water will be for sale at the show.
Local businesses have donated gift cards, certificates, meals and other auto-related items that will be given away to help raise funds for the VVA chapter, which will be used to help all veterans in the community.
Tickets for these drawings will be sold and a gift awarded every 15 minutes during the show. A special drawing will be conducted near the end of the show for a print of “The Cats,” which has been donated by the Mitchell Tolle Art Gallery in Berea.
The local VVA chapter would like to thank all local merchants who donated to the event, said Emerson McAfee, one of the organizers.
Chapter 1066 is looking for more members to join the organization and anyone who served in any brand of service and/or National Guard, reserve or active from August 1964 to May 1975 is eligible. Members do not have to been stationed in Vietnam.
Anyone who is interested in joining can attend the next meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at Building S-2 (golf clubhouse) at Blue Grass Army Depot.
