MADISON COUNTY —
Kollar said just a few minutes after getting on I-75 northbound at Exit 90 around 2:15 p.m., he witnessed a car pass another vehicle in the emergency lane. The car then seemed to spar with the other vehicle in what appeared to be an attempt to run it off the road, he said.
Kollar got out his smartphone and started filming the vehicle, trying to get an image of its out-of-state license plate. But, the car had a bike rack on the back that somewhat obscured the plate.
“He knew I was back there with my camera hanging out,” Kollar said. “I wasn’t trying to hide it,”
Near the 97 mile marker, Kollar said the back passenger-side window of the suspect’s car rolled down, so he thought he would have a good opportunity to get a clear image of the driver’s face. After pulling up next to the vehicle’s right side, the video shows the front passenger-side window roll down. The driver looks directly at Kollar and raises a handgun.
“As soon as I saw the gun go up, I stepped on the brake,” Kollar said.
He believed he heard the gun fire, but his vehicle was not hit, Kollar said. But, the bullet may have gone in front of his car.
Kollar then got off the interstate and called the state police.
