Couple shatters locked case while shoplifting

RICHMOND — A couple attempting to steal from a locked computer display case ended up shattering its glass door Wednesday at Walmart.

An Walmart employee told Richmond police that a man and woman broke the case while attempting to open it and then fled from the store.

The employee also told police the same couple had gotten into the locked case Sunday and stolen two Acer Aspire S3 laptops worth a total of $996.

Other crimes:

• The owner of Kelly’s Fruit Market, Eastern Bypass, reported Wednesday that the copper refrigeration lines had been cut from two exterior air conditioning units during the night. Estimated loss is $200.

• A complainant reported Wednesday that his vehicle had been broken into while parked at Michael’s in Richmond Centre during the early evening. A rear window had been broken, according to Richmond police.

• A gray Dell laptop, worth $750, was stolen from the rear seat.
