The city of Richmond and Eastern Kentucky University have partnered to repaint and rebrand four water towers within the city limits.
Two of the towers, near Interstate 75 exit 87 and the railroad overpass on the Eastern Bypass, will feature logos for both the university and the city. Two more, near Alumni Coliseum and across from Roy Kidd Stadium on EKU’s campus, will feature EKU logos.
The university will cover the cost of painting the towers, which are managed by the city. C&S Quality Services of Lawrenceburg has been contracted to do the work.
At a press conference Monday morning, EKU President Michael Benson said the partnership was a good way to show that the city and university are “good neighbors” while also creating an advertising opportunity for both entities.
Mayor Jim Barnes said the project was representative of the relationship he’d like to cultivate between the city and EKU.
