Register staff report
The quick arrival of Richmond police and arrest of an Indiana man put a stop to a dangerous domestic violence incident.
Neil D. Dove, 41, of Butler, Ind., was charged Tuesday with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault and possession of synthetic marijuana.
Officers responded to a call at 8:07 a.m. about an assault in progress in the 400 block of Big Hill Avenue, according to an RPD report. When they arrived, the officers learned that Dove had previously been in a relationship with the female resident.
Dove had moved out of the home two weeks ago, but he had been making threats to the woman throughout the week, the report stated.
Dove arrived at the residence unannounced Tuesday morning and forced his way in, the RPD report stated. He tackled the woman, but she was able to escape and run out of the apartment, according to police.
The man chased her down and took her back inside the apartment, after which the officers arrived.
Dove was arrested and a search found that he had synthetic marijuana in his possession, according to the report. He was taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
