Madison Central senior Dominique Hawkins capped a remarkable senior season by receiving the top honor for any high school basketball player in the state.
On Friday night in Louisville, Hawkins was named the 2013 Kentucky Mr. Basketball. The award is given annually by The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation.
Hawkins led Central to its first state title earlier this month and was named the Sweet 16 Most Valuable Player.
“I have goose bumps just seeing all these other guys who have won the award,” Hawkins said Friday night. “It's just an honor to have my name on that list with all these great players.”
Hawkins will wear the No. 1 jersey when he plays for the Kentucky All-Stars this summer against the Indiana All-Stars.
