RICHMOND —

This Saturday, the Madison County Safety Coalition and Safe Kids Worldwide will host Celebrate Safe Kids Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Safety City.

It is located behind the county fire station, 160 Battlefield Memorial Highway, just south of the US 25/421 split.

The event will feature displays aimed at raising awareness of ways to prevent child injury, and a playground will be open for any children present to play on.

“Our goals are to honor our local first responders, raise awareness about the ways we can protect our children from preventable injuries, and to raise funds to support our local and national injury prevention programs,” said  Lloyd Jordison, spokesman for the Madison County Safety Coalition.

Families are encouraged to pack a lunch and come by to honor first responders and their families.
