Great Expectations maternity fair Saturday

Register staff report

RICHMOND — Wouldn’t a year’s worth of diaper money be better spent on something else?

Pre-register for the 4th annual Great Expectations maternity fair by 1 p.m. Friday for a chance to win a year of free diapers, a 4D ultrasound and other family-friendly prizes.

The fair is scheduled  from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the EKU Center for the Arts.

Formerly known as the Pattie Cake maternity fair, this event is a chance for expectant parents to visit with OB/GYNs and pediatricians, browse the latest baby products from dozens of vendors and attend educational classes.

Door prizes will be given away every five minutes. However, parents must attend an educational session to be eligible for one of the grand door prizes, such as the year of free diapers or a “babymoon” getaway, said Baptist Health spokesperson Jill Williams.

Visitors are invited to bring any questions or concerns to the specially trained nurses and staff, she said.

“This is such a fun and educational event for anyone who is expecting or planning for their family,” she said. “Every expectant parent should attend. It is a time to be pampered and take advantage of the many resources in the community.”

The maternity fair also will feature keynote speaker April McCormick, who is a 2013 Weblog Awards finalist and author of TiredofBeingPregnant.com and FirstTimeMomandDad.com.
