Clark, Cornelison file for re-election

RICHMOND — County Judge/Executive Kent Clark and Coroner Jimmy Cornelison both filed Friday for re-election.

Clark, first elected in 1993, has been judge/executive for 20 years. A fifth-generation native of Madison County, Clark and his family reside on their Big Hill farm.

The judge/executive said never raising taxes while maintaining a balanced budget during his time in office are his among his chief accomplishments.

Clark is the only Democrat in the race at this point. Three Republicans are already in the race, Magistrate Greg King, Planning and Codes Administrator Duane Curry and builder/developer Reagan Taylor.

Cornelison has been the county coroner for 15 years, serving as deputy coroner the three years prior to his election. He has served on the Kentucky Coroners Association board for the past eight years and is one of 11 members on the Kentucky Mass Fatality Team.

Cornelison said his accomplishments in office include “modernizing” operations and opening a state-of-the-art morgue which has aided in death investigations.

Candidates in county races have until Jan. 28 to file.
