Two charged with drug possession on High Street

RICHMOND — Two people were charged with drug possession after police responded to a call Monday on High Street.

Officers were dispatched at 1:15 p.m. to investigate a call about a man refusing to leave the property of another, according to the RPD news release.

The officers met with the landlord after they arrived, and they were told Terry Lakes, 34, of Chenault Drive, was not allowed on the premises.

Trina Abney, 45, of Foxhaven Drive, allowed the officers into the apartment, and while inside, “the landlord began examining furniture in the apartment and discovered three syringes and several small packages that contained an unidentified white powder in a dresser,” according to the release.

Lakes and Abney both were charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.



RPD makes felony shoplifting arrests

A man and woman were arrested Monday after police said they stole more than $500 in merchandise from Kohl’s.

Jessica L. Rose, 27, and Jonathon A. Blasdell, 30, both of Berea, both were charged with felony theft by unlawful taking.

At 12:50 p.m., officers were alerted by Kohl’s employees that Rose and Blasdell had been seen concealing several items “on or about” them while inside the store, according to the RPD news release.

Officers stood outside the store until the couple attempted to leave without paying for $520.86 in merchandise, according to the release.

Rose and Blasdell were arrested and taken to the Madison County Detention Center.



Burglary reported on Laurel Street

A resident in the 400 block of Laurel Street reported Monday that her apartment had been burglarized during the day, and a Sony PlayStation 3, worth $299, was stolen. Entry was gained through a rear window, according to the RPD.
