KSP, Domino’s partner to ‘Cram the Cruiser’ for needy families

MADISON COUNTY — The Kentucky State Police have begun collecting items for the agency’s third-annual Cram the Cruiser food drive, and this year the Richmond post is partnering with the local Domino’s Pizza.

People can drop off nonperishable food items at any of the 16 Kentucky State Police posts. Post 7 in Richmond is at 699 Eastern Bypass across from EKU’s Alumni Coliseum.

Items also can be dropped off at the Richmond Domino’s Pizza, 328 Eastern Bypass, or given to Domino’s delivery drivers as they drop off an order. Customers who donate through their delivery driver will receive $1 off their order.

The campaign, which began Nov. 21, ends Dec. 14. Last year the KSP collected 50,931 pounds of food, according to a news release from the agency.

The food is distributed to local shelters, churches or other organizations serving people in need during the holiday season, the release stated. Suggested donations include canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices.
