Santa making his way through Madison County

RICHMOND — Santa Claus will bring his sleigh and reindeer to Madison County – and stay a while. He will be making visits to local businesses, homes and will even be available by phone.

In Richmond, Santa will be at “A Holiday Happening” Christmas craft show Dec. 8 at  City Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items being sold include wreaths, ornaments, toys, fudge and more. Santa Claus will appear between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Richmond Tourism Department requests that guests bring their own camera to snap pictures with their children and Santa Claus. Call 623-8753 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for more information.

Registration for a child to receive a letter from Santa Claus will begin today and go through Dec. 7.

The cost is $5 per letter and applications can be obtained at the Richmond Parks and Recreation office at 321 N. Second St., or online at http://parks.richmond.ky.us.

Registration for “Santa’s Hotline,” which is a telephone call from Santa, is during the same date range and can be obtained through the same process.

The deadline for “Santa Express,” which arranges for a child to get a personal visit at homes is Dec. 7.

These visits will be made between 6 and 9 p.m. Dec. 11,12 and 13. The cost is $10 per child.

Santa in Berea

In Berea, Santa will appear at various locations between Monday, Dec. 17, and Friday, Dec. 21.

To arrange a phone call from Santa, simply call the Berea Parks and Recreation Department at 986-9402.

On Monday, Dec. 17, Santa will be at the Berea Parks and Recreation Office at 8 Pirate Parkway from 10-11 a.m., Puppets & Such at 123 N. Broadway from 4-5 p.m. and Tractor Supply at 300 Cooper Lane from 6-7 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 18, he will be at the Berea Tourism Office at 201 N. Broadway from 10-11 a.m., People’s Bank at 419 Chestnut Street from 2-3 p.m. and Benchmark Family Services at 700 Chestnut Street from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 19, he will be at St. Joseph Berea at 305 Estill Street from 10-11 a.m., Berea City Hall at 212 Chestnut Street from 4-5 p.m. and Encore Dance Studio at 219 Pauline Drive from 6-7 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 20, he will be at Fitness, Friends and Fun at 501 Mt. Vernon Road from 10-11 a.m., Ace Hardware, 292 Mini Mall Drive from 2-3 p.m., the Berea Acton Folk Center at 212 Jefferson Street from 5:30-7 p.m.

Christmas parades

Santa also will conclude the Christmas parade in Berea, Saturday, Dec. 1, beginning at 6 p.m.

The Christmas parade in Richmond is Friday, Dec. 7, beginning at 7 p.m.
