Public library in Berea to host legislative forum

Register staff report

BEREA — Library customers, supporters and community members from Madison, Rockcastle, and Lincoln counties will gather at the Berea location of the Madison County Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for the library’s third annual Legislative Meet & Greet.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Madison County Public Library, the event is part of a month-long statewide advocacy initiative led by Friends of Kentucky Libraries.

The Friends of the MCPL have invited state legislators and local elected officials, as well as candidates for local offices. Community members, officials and candidates may enjoy refreshments while talking with each other.

It is also an opportunity for all library users to spend a few minutes with their elected officials and candidates to tell them how important their public library is to them and their community Kara Beth Brunner, president of the Friends of the Madison County Public Library.

“This type of event showcases the importance of the public library as a center for learning and exploring community issues,” Brunner said.

The event is free and open to the public.

The library is located at 319 Chestnut St., Berea.

For more details, call Brunner, 986-4961, or Ruthie Maslin, 623-6704.
