Woman charged with bail-jumping

RICHMOND — Richmond police arrested Karen M. Tackett, 37, East Main Street, Tuesday on a charge of failing to appear in court following her indictment on criminal charges.

Tackett was indicted March 18 by a Madison County grand jury on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft by deception (under $500), and first-degree persistent felony offender, according to the RPD report.

Tackett failed to appear July 3 in Madison Circuit Court in connection with the charges and was in violation of her conditions of release on bond.

She was again indicted July 10 by a Madison County grand jury on a charge of first-degree bail jumping and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

A patrol officer encountered Tackett on Tuesday night on East Main Street and took her into custody, the report stated. The warrant was served on her, and she was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

A bench warrant charging her for a violation of bond also was served on her.

Car stereo reported stolen

A resident in the 700 block of N. Third Street reported Monday that a Sony Xplod car stereo, model CDS GT24, had been stolen from her parked and unlocked vehicle during the night. Estimated loss:  $30.
