Three arrested in connection with robbery in Meijer lot

Register Staff Report

RICHMOND — Richmond police have arrested three people on a variety of felony charges after a robbery Thursday in the Meijer parking lot.

The victim told police that 29-year-old Troy L. Smith, of Curtis Pike, approached him in the parking lot and began punching him in the face, according to the RPD report.

The victim fell to the ground and suffered an injury to his elbow. He said Smith then took the items he had just purchased from Meijer.

RPD officers were able to find Smith, along with 40-year-old Steven S. Murphy, also of Curtis Pike, on Foxhaven Drive.

Police say their investigation revealed that Lashaina P. Coomer, 21, of Nicholasville, assisted Smith in  fleeing the scene of the robbery.

The RPD searched Murphy and Smith’s residence on Curtis Pike and found drugs and guns, the report stated. Some of the items police reported finding in the home included more than 20 grams of heroin, 100 oxycodone pills, marijuana, two handguns and various drug paraphernalia.

Murphy was charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and facilitation to commit first-degree robbery.

Smith was charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and first-degree robbery.

Coomer was booked on a charge of facilitation to commit first-degree robbery.

All three were lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
