Estill woman dies of expose after vehicle stuck

Register Staff Report

Estill County — A woman was found dead of exposure Wednesday on Turkey Pen Road in rural Estill County, according to a Kentucky State Police news release.

Vickie H. Arvin, 55, of Irvine, was found next to her vehicle and pronounced dead by the Estill County Coroner.

Arvin died as a result of exposure to the cold weather, after her vehicle slid off the roadway and got stuck on a creek bank, the release stated. She apparently exited her vehicle and then fell into the creek. She was able to reach her vehicle’s passenger-side door before the died.

Foul play did not appear to be a factor in the death, according to Trooper Robert Purdy, spokesperson for KSP Post 7 in Richmond.

KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong investigated the fatality assisted on the scene by other KSP personnel, Estill County EMS and the Estill County Coroner.
