Funds sought for funerals of those believed to be fire victims

Register Staff Report

RICHMOND — A fund has been set up to assist with the funeral and burial costs of three people believed to be victims of a Feb. 1 fire.

Although DNA tests on the three sets of remains found in the Oakley Wells Road home won’t be completed for some time, the families of Linda S. Abney, 53, Jack Young Sr., 56, and Jack ‘Pug’ Young Jr., 34, have placed Combs, Parson & Collins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Donors may mail checks or bring cash or checks to the funeral home, and a receipt will be given. The address for Combs, Parson & Collins Funeral Home is at 328 W. Main St., PO Box 569, Richmond, KY 40475.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
The three victims died of smoke inhalation, according to the Kentucky State Police. The fire was ruled accidental and may have been caused by a wood-burning stove inside the home.

Based on people acquainted with them, including the person who dropped them off at the home before it burned, Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said the remains likely belong to the people named above.
