Pregnant woman taken to hospital after collision

A two-car collision about 10 a.m. Monday on US 25 just south of the Eastern Bypass trapped a pregnant woman in one of the vehicles.

Bleeding from the mouth and complaining of chest pains, the woman was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center after she was extricated from the vehicle.

Because officials did not release her name, a hospital report on the woman’s condition could not be requested.

She was a passenger in a Chevrolet Cobalt southbound on US 25 that was turning left at the intersection between between Kroger and Sonny’s Bar-B-Q, said Richmond Police Sgt. Brian Eaves.

A northbound Nissan Frontier collided with the Cobalt. Both drivers had a green light, Eaves added.

Both drivers suffered minor cuts and bruises but did not require transportation for treatment, he said.
