Toddler Tuesdays

BEREA — Nearly 20 children and their parents gathered yesterday for Toddler Tuesdays, a program sponsored by Berea Parks and Recreation.

Entering its sixth year, Toddler Tuesdays has always been very popular, said Cilla Bloom, assistant to the parks and recreation director.

Padded mats and blocks were purchased especially for toddlers, she said.

Although the program is designed for children up to age 4, former director Maggie Kriebel began the program with parents in mind too, Bloom said.

Parents played with their children Tuesday, but also spent the time talking to each other about topics that generally interest parents of young children, such as nap times and what school their children will attend.

Recreation supervisor Jenny Jones has a variety of activities and themes scheduled for the program, which was designed for indoor fun during the winter months and will end February 25.

On Jan. 21, Adventure Pets will bring a variety of animals for children to enjoy. The Madison County Animal Shelter will visit Feb. 11.

Toddler Tuesdays are scheduled every Tuesday, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Russel Acton Folk Center, 212 W. Jefferson St., Berea. The activities are free and an adult must stay with each toddler.
