KSP, RPD investigating convenience store robberies

RICHMOND — Kentucky State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night at the Kingston Shell Food Mart on Battlefield Memorial highway.

According to a KSP news release, a white male wearing a black jacket and blue jeans entered the store with a handgun. After robbing the business, the suspect fled on foot, going north on Battlefield Memorial Highway (US 421).

The suspect’s description resembles the description of a suspect in two more robberies being investigated by Richmond police. According to an RPD report, officers responded Friday to a report of an armed robbery at the D&G Food Mart on East Main Street. Store employees told the police they had been robbed at gunpoint by a white male in his mid-20s weighing about 130 pounds and wearing a black hoodie, a gray toboggan, blue jeans, black gloves and a brown bandana around his face.

In a Sunday night incideent, RPD officers responded to a similar robbery at the Redi Mart on Red House Road, where the suspect was described as being 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall and wearing a dark gray and light blue hood, a black jacket, khaki pants, black shoes, black gloves and a navy blue bandana over his face.

Undisclosed amounts of cash were taken in each robbery, according to the RPD report, and no one was injured.

The RPD suspects all three robberies, as well as a fourth at Bybee Grocery at the corner of Irvine Road and Brassfield-Bybee Road, were committed by the same person.

The department is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 623-1162.
