Silver Creek Elementary presents: ‘I Need a Little Christmas Vacation’

RICHMOND — Originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, Silver Creek Elementary’s Christmas program “I Need a Little Christmas Vacation” has been moved to 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at the school. The show is free and the community is invited to attend, said Principal Martha Scarberry.

In “I Need a Little Christmas Vacation,” students find themselves stuck at school when a nice snowfall turns into a blizzard only 30 minutes before they were to leave for Christmas break.

While performing their final show, “A Winter’s Tale,” before the start of break, an announcement is made that students must remain at school because of inclement weather.

Hilarity ensues as students work to cheer each other up, find ways to shop while stuck inside, get in touch with Santa and entertain themselves.

In the end, students realize that being able to share Christmas with their friends is an important part of the holiday.

Silver Creek Elementary will be featured in Friday’s paper as the Richmond Register’s “School of the Week.” Learn more about how students prepared for the Christmas program, what the second-grade has been up to and how third-graders are giving back to the community.
