A cappella group the AcoUstiKats, whose members include a Madison Central High School teacher, made it past the first round of competition Tuesday night on NBC’s “The Sing-Off.”
Mike Owens in the assistant director of the Madison Central choir. He joined the AcoUstiKats while he attended the University of Kentucky.
His group is competing against nine other a cappella ensembles for a chance to win $100,000 and a Sony Music recording contract.
The AcoUstiKats performed Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” in its first national televised performance Tuesday.
The Princeton Footnotes were the first group to be eliminated. The second episode of “The Sing-Off” will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Viewers can vote on their favorite groups.
