Two charged with falsely reporting crimes

RICHMOND — Richmond police arrested on man Monday and cited another Friday on charges of falsely reporting crimes.

Casey McKiddy, 25, Moran Summit Road was served Monday with a warrant charging him with falsely reporting an assault in mid-April, according to a police report.

On April 18, McKiddy told police he was strangled and threatened by an acquaintance while in a vehicle, and he wanted to press charges, according to the report.

Police investigated and determined no assault or threat occurred and that McKiddy fabricated the story, the report stated.

A warrant for McKiddy arrest was obtained April 26, and he was found Monday at the Richmond Centre where he was taken into custody without incident. He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center where he remained Tuesday afternoon, according to the jail’s online records.

On Friday, Lee A. Jordan, 21, Jacks Creek Road, was charged with falsely reporting the theft of a vehicle.

He told police May 3 that his pickup truck was stolen from Ty Lane the previous day, according to the police report.

Jordan initially said he parked the vehicle shortly after midnight and returned to find it missing at 4 p.m. It was described as a 1991 GMC 1500 with extended cab. On Friday, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reported finding it burned in the Jigwater area.

Jordan then was interviewed at the police department, cited and released, the report stated.

Loaned cell phone taken

On Monday, a complainant told police he allowed a man outside the Subway restaurant on Water Street to use his white iPhone 5. He then ran away with the phone, and the owner lost sight of him near Main Street and Madison Avenue.

The thief was described as a white male with brown hair and scruffy facial hair. Estimated loss: $240.
